Personally, I believe that the song Fuck The Police by NWA does not correctly depict police officers. Calling all police officer racist minority killers who are out to harm people is just as untrue as saying all black people are drug dealers or killers. Most police officers do there job correctly each day without profiling people based on gender or race. However there are a few officers that do abuse there powers and abuse minority groups such as Hispanics and African Americans. This does not mean that all cops are like that, however the media only seems to report on the few situations where it does occur and does not show the positives that law enforcement officers do on a daily bases to keep all Americans safe. The artists in both songs do have the right to express themselves however they would like. Although, by calling all police officers racists, saying you are going to shoot them and making threats at them seemed to do more harm than good. In my opinion, saying “take out a cop or two” is going to make cops very suspicious when pulling over an African American in an urban area. How would you feel if somebody said they were going to shoot you simply because of the job you have in society and you were one of the cops that did nothing wrong? I personally believe that McBride would not fully agree with what NWA did with there song. He would agree with the fact that there is an issue that needed to be addressed between African Americans and police officers. However, he would not agree with the way that NWA got the attention off the police officers. There are many other more peaceful ways to grab the attention off police officers that don’t involve making death threats to them.
